BACKGROUND:

Meet the players and coaches of the Navy, Saint Joseph’s and Villanova Men’s Rugby 7s teams and the Temple and Drexel Women’s Rugby 7s teams, who will be greeting guests and running drills on the pier of the Battleship New Jersey, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22. Also on hand will be the Rugby Rhino mascots, and representatives from Dunkin’ Donuts will be on hand with free samples. The meet-and-greet on the pier is free to experience.

The 2018 Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship returns to Philadelphia and Talen Energy Stadium for the eighth consecutive year on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, bringing national and International attention to the Philadelphia region through the live broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News and ESPN+. The two-day rugby festival is one of the largest gatherings of collegiate and high school rugby teams in the world, with over 30,000 fans anticipated to be in attendance. The main event features 24 of the nation’s top men’s collegiate Rugby 7s teams competing for the coveted Pete Dawkins Trophy, which this year will be presented to the winner by former National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster. Also featured are 16 of the nation’s top women’s college rugby squads, as well as the small college men’s rugby national championship and a boys and girls high school competition.
